Babbling – making strings of sounds using a combination of vowels and consonants for example “dadada” “bababa"

Still communicating their feelings/needs using different cries 
- 
Respond by making noises when spoken to

Smile at familiar faces 
Your role as communication partner:
- 
Be Interested – by listening and responding to babble, the baby begins to realise that what they are saying to you is important 
- 
Repetition – play repetitive games, sing repetitive songs, read repetitive books. This provides the opportunity for baby to learn what happens next 
- 
Wait – watch baby to see if they are indicating an interest in something and wait to see if baby will gesture or babble…then respond.
